ARS MEDICA is a new quarterly literary journal that explores the interface between the arts and medicine, and examines what makes medicine an art. Writing and healing have always been intrinsically linked.

	ARS MEDICA will seek to provide the reader with vivid examples. Content will include narratives from patients and health care workers, medical history, fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, illustrations and photography. Special issues on particular themes are planned, and will be announced on this web site.
ARS MEDICA, Canada's only literary medical journal, seeks well-crafted writing about illness, healing and art. The editors, Drs. Rex Kay, Allan Peterkin, Ron Ruskin, Allison Crawford, and managing editor Robin Roger, invite letters, queries and submissions of previously unpublished poetry, essays, fiction, creative nonfiction and medical history.

Guidelines for submissions:

1. All mailed submissions must be accompanied by an SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope). Manuscripts without SASEs may not be returned. E-mail submissions are preferred with Microsoft Word attachments only.

2. Poetry should be typed single-spaced up to two pages and prose double-spaced to a maximum of 3000 words.

3. We will not consider previously published manuscripts or visual art, and a signed statement that the work is original and unpublished is required. Copyright remains with the artist or author.

4. Payment will consist of copies of the issue in which the accepted work appears.

5. Please indicate word count on your manuscript and provide full contact information -name, address, phone number, fax, e-mail address.
